About
Sharon is a lifelong resident of West Virginia, where she lives on her small farm with her husband, son, 36 chickens, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. Sharon also has two adult daughters and 4 grandchildren. When she isn’t championing the impact that education and support can have on the lives of children, you can find her gardening, rescuing stray cats, building things with her husband, sewing, and spending time with her family.
“As a first generation non-traditional college student, I know firsthand how empowering education can be. It’s the first seed that was planted to help me grow the beautiful life that I have today, and I want to spend the rest of my life helping others to believe in themselves and all that they can achieve.” - Dr. Sharon Shrum

Testimonials
"Dr. Shrum very obviously loves children and knows the impact that adults can have on their lives. Her books are a joy to read and every educator should have them in their library."
"Hearing Sharon speak about her books was such a privilege. She has walked the walk and her books serve as a wonderful reminder of how our little ones are always listening and how our words can last a lifetime."

I have been fortunate in my career to be able to experience directly impacting students, their teachers, and their administrators in various ways. As a current Elementary Instructional Supervisor, I love getting to provide hands on support for my schools and the families that they serve. I initially decided to pursue a career in education after a chance encounter with another single mother many years ago while picking up my eldest daughter from school. Here, I learned that it was possible for someone like me to go back to school and work hard to make my dreams come true. Along with this chance encounter, I often think about all of the educators and writers who have inspired me on my journey. I only hope that my message can help others to dream big and never stop having faith in yourselves.
